A wedding cake is meant to be eaten. This is one reason why butter cream frosting is taking the lead over fondant this year. Another is price. While fondant allows for beautiful craftsmanship and intricate designs, it’s doughy, dry taste and high dollar price are bringing it down. Why spend a fortune on a cake no one will eat? You can can have style and taste with butter cream.

One of my all time favorite butter cream frostings is the cheesecake flavor at Society Bakery. The melt in your mouth, rich, creamy goodness a top a moist piece of red velvet cake is about as good at it gets. They make it look good too. With Society Bakery, you can have a beautiful and delicious cake your guests will be talking about for years to come, while giving back to society. Love the entry! So true. After having done my fair share of weddings, I have seen a huge decrease in fondant cakes. Society Bakery is AMAZING. I have seen and tasted several of their cakes! YUMMY!
I’m a bit of a frosting snob and Society Bakery has them all beat! Except for my own recipe with it’s super secret ingredient. If I had one wish, it would to be able to eat all the frosting and Nutella I want without gaining a pound or getting sick. Now where’s that genie?
Glad we all agree on delicious frosting! Thanks for the input
We have definitely seen this trend first-hand at Hot Chocolates and we love it! We want our cakes to taste as good as they look, and when you know how to work with buttercream, you can produce a smooth, fondant-like finish with it anyway!
