If you saw Monday night’s airing of The Bachelor: Molly & Jason’s Wedding, you know a little rain won’t ruin your big day. Like Chris Harrison said, it’s good luck. He’s not making it up either — good luck from a rainy wedding is one of those timeless wedding superstitions we love to believe in. Rain is also supposed to be a sign of fertility — as rain helps farmers’ crops, it will bring you many children.
If you’re not one for superstitions, it might ease your nerves to know that overcast skies make for great photography. The soft lighting can get you some really dramatic shots. Also, bride and groom under an umbrella — too cute. Photo by Luster Studios.
All that aside, who really wants to be a drenched bride? If you’re having an outdoor wedding, there should be a rain plan. Depending on the venue, you could move the whole thing inside, put up a tent or even move to a different location entirely. At the very least, you should have umbrellas for everyone — Bachelor style. Find the perfect clear umbrellas here.

Rain on your wedding day may be ironic, to quote Alanis Morissette, but if you are prepared and keep an open mind, it can make for a day you’ll never forget.

The dramatic lighting is amazing! Who knew rain could be so wonderful!
It really is romantic. Wedding Planners can control a lot, but not the weather… we learn to deal and like it!
I have some fantastic rain/umbrella photos from our wedding if you’re interested. I was worried before, but gray skies are actually the most perfect for photos and ours turned out incredible. Worries gone
I’m so glad your rainy wedding turned out well! I’d love to see the photos, Dana. You can email them to me – Elizabeth@AfterYesWeddings.com
