Being someone’s Maid of Honor (MOH) is a big responsibility. Probably one of the most influential duties is the speech. What do you say about your best friend on her wedding day? You’ve shared so much, how could you possibly cram all your thoughts into 5 minutes or less?
Here are some ideas on what to say and how to keep your cool:
- Introduce yourself and your relationship to the bride — how did you meet?
- Tell how the bride came to know the groom and how you watched their relationship grow
- Tell a funny story that brings out the bride’s personality
- Share something sentimental relating to loving your friend
- Don’t get too personal or share anything embarrassing
- Wish the couple a lifetime of love and happiness
- Don’t drink too much before speaking
Typically the Maid of Honor is the last to speak, following the Father of the Bride and the Best Man. Be sure to bring notes and rehearse in front of a friend before the big day. Good luck!
