Inspired by navajo culture and crafts, we took the age old traditions of Native American beadwork, weaving, and pottery and mingled our new ideas of pop art, glamour, and playfulness. A color palette of primarily dusty rose, mauve, turquoise, and grey echoes the landscape and horizon found in the desert. Flower arrangements were crafted using golden cacti, pencil cacti, blooming branches, thistles, proteas and heirloom roses in vintage 1980 ceramic vessels. The paper suite was inspired by two native american icons: the invitation served as a dreamcatcher and the save the date was a puzzle contained in a medicine bag. A gloriously graphic cake “beaded” with sprinkles and donning a mystical wolf completes our vision quest! –Alicia Rico, bows and arrows

Looking for a way to spruce up a plain cake for a party or shower? Try making this adorable bunting. This DIY project is simple, easy, and adds the perfect extra decoration to your cake without breaking the bank. Enjoy!

Here’s what you’ll need:
- Embroidery Thread
- Cardstock
- Elmer’s Glue
- Glue Gun
- Glitter
- Tall Lollipop Sticks
First, cut out the bunting flags from your cardstock about one inch tall and two centimeter across. This can vary based on the size of your cake, but a 9-inch cake needs about 20 flags.

Next, spread Elmer’s on each flag and sprinkle with glitter. Let the flags dry, then arrange the flags into two rows in an order that makes you happy. Cut two lengths of embroidery thread, about 18 inches each.

Then, on the back of each flag, put a small dot of hot glue and place the embroidery thread in. Repeat until all of the flags are glued. For a 9-inch cake, use 8 flags on the upper thread and 11 flags on the lower thread.

Tie the two threads together on both ends, making sure that the flags fall in two rows.

Finally, secure the bunting to two lollipop sticks, either by knotting or gluing the thread to the sticks. Push the lollipop sticks down into your cake, and you’re done!
